A good foundation in mathematics, accounting, and languages is useful. They should also possess a diploma or degree in business and restaurant management or tourism. They should also be above 18 years of age. Experience in progressive management, fine dining and special event catering, budgeting, and operational financial management accountability are prerequisites. Any experience in cooking, business administration, and working in work in kitchens, bars, and restaurants is a benefit. In fact, two years experience is required before a person qualifies as a food and beverage manager. Since this job involves public and individual relations with customers, it requires good communication skills , conflict resolution, excellent customer service orientation, and good organisation skills. Additionally, since it involves supervision and communism, experience in a union environment and good leadership skills are significant. Similarly, one needs to be flexible in his decisions and easily adapt to eminent changes since this is a dynamic industry.
